Just checking for a pulse...

Much as I love to read my own reviews (WHAT narcissism?), I'm really more interested to know what everyone else is reading. Surely somebody's finished SOMETHING she loved or loathed lately. Please write about it! Don't make me rely on dumb luck at the library.

Looking forward to your reviews!

Don't worry, we LOVE reading your reviews. My home blog is the same way--sometimes I wonder if there's an echo in there?

I read the Secret Life of Bees-which somebody brought to the book exchange in December and LOVED it. I don't even want to pass it on because I want to read it again, which is exceedingly rare a response for me.

Another book I read is non-fiction: The Terrorist Watch by Ronald Kessler. It's an amazing look at what's been going on inside the FBI and the CIA since 9/11. I was startled by a lot of it--even though in general you could say that I'm likely to be in favor of such stuff as predictable for conservatives. That's one that comes to me via J.J., whose books are always of the non-fiction, government and political science nature.

The other problem, Michelle, is that Robin and I are both deeply back in classes--hoping to emerge in May. Then the reading can begin!

Speaking of library, I noticed that the shelf had no #1 Ladies Detective Agency left on it....they must be on an upswing of popularity. Have you tried those?

I also really enjoyed Dead Heat by Dick and Felix Francis sometime recently -- and don't think I shared that. As you can tell, I'm into much lighter reading than you these days...

Maybe I'll post the reading list of Indian novels recommended by my friend in Belgium, a voracious reader...

I remember how hard it is to read when you're in school (ironic pause) but see, you must have had some reading time over the holidays because you came up with a lovely couple of recommendations. Glad to know you're all still out there. I'll be reading double-time on your behalf until May.

I'm currently working on Al Gore's THE ASSAULT ON REASON but can only handle it in small doses before the outrage becomes overwhelming. Then I have to stifle the urge to write flaming hate mail to George W. that would get me put on the no-fly list for life. So it could take awhile to finish.

Hi Michelle, Robin here. Honest to Golly, I enjoyed two whole weeks of reading NOTHING for school or otherwise, but I must admit I did read my mother's hand-me-down People magazines. with NPR on my 7 minute drives to work as my only news connection to the world, flipping through the lives of our celebs as quickly as I can turn a page leaves me feeling so full of life by comparison!

Fondly, Robin
